Services

The Gruppo Otologico is a unit of a multispecialty hospital, the Casa Di Cura Hospital. This unit consists of an out patient department with a fully equipped diagnostic set up, four dedicated operation theatres with state of the art equipment, one Intensive care unit and inpatient rooms. It also has fully equipped research section for fellows and consultants including a library, audiovisual equipment and live telecast systems. There is a well equipped anatomic dissection lab which hosts many international trainees each year.

At the Gruppo Otologico we treat diseases of the external ear middle ear and inner ear including infections & tumors, like acute and chronic otitis media & externa, cholesteatoma, facial nerve afflictions, otosclerosis, foreign bodies and tumors. In the inner ear we treat vertigo, sensorineural hearing loss, petrous bone cholesteatomas and tumors. We perform mastoidectomies, tympano-ossiculoplasties & facial nerve decompressions. We have the world's largest series in some of the middle ear conditions

For selected cases of congenital or acquired sensorineural or mixed hearing loss we perform the entire range of implantology using hearing aids & implnats like bone anchored hearing aids, middle ear implants, cochlear & auditory brain stem implants. The Gruppo Otologico Cochlear Implant Programme has successfully restored varying degrees of hearing to thousands of children and adults. Over the years it has been recognized as one of the largest and most respected clinical and research implant centers in the world.

We have the world largest series of acoustic neuroma & paragangliomas of the skull base. We have successfully removed extremely complicated acoustic neuroma involving the CPangle and complex paragangliomas involving the carotid, foramen magnum and the vertebral artery. We routinely perform translabrynthine, retrosigmoid, middle cranial fossa, infratemporal fossa approaches, with or without trans condylar-transtubercular extensions, far lateral approaches and other skull base surgeries

We provide treatment for vertigo, giddiness, sensori neural hearing loss and migraine. We also perform vascular decompression of trigeminal & facial nerves in the cerebellopontine angle. We have a dedicated unit with state of the art facilities in diagnostic and therapeutic modalities in neurotology like VENG & BERA

We have achieved very good long term survival rates with malignant & benign tumors of the pinna, temporal bone, parapharyngeal space and the skull base. We also provide reconstruction of the lost tissue with various types of myocutaneous and micovascular flaps.

Apart from medically treating routine rhinological conditions, we perform all types of rhinological surgeries including endoscopic sinus surgery, septoplasty, transsphenoidal hypophysectomy and skull base tumor removals

radiology services

We have state of the art equipment in the department of radiodiagnosis like multislice CT scan, MRI & angiography. Our core expertise includes arterial embolizations, balloon occlusions, stenting of the internal carotid artery and other interventional procedures.

reconstructive surgery

We have achieved very good results with reconstruction of the external ear for microtia (congenital ear defects). This apart, we also routine perform reconstruction of surgical defects in tumors of the temporal bone, skull base and the head & neck

ASLP

Our Audiology, Speech & Language Pathology (ASLP) unit is one of the very best with state of the art facilities to diagnose deafness, giddiness and other ear pathologies. The Audiology team provides complete & comprehensive post surgical rehabilitation after cochlear and brain stem implants. They also provide speech rehabilitation.
